The Broad

The streets of Santa Monica.  This is a picture of the road in front of Mish’s home.

I visited The Broad Museum.  Another free museum in the state of California.  How they keep the costs to nothing is something I would like to know.  Theres one known museum in Georgia, The High Museum, and it is free once a month for bank of america card holders….. and thats it.

There was a power outage and everyone had to evacuate the building.  We stayed around the area until the power was fixed.  There was a pop up boutique shop and a Brazilian coffee shop nearby where we spent some time chatting.

The view from outside.

Views from the street.

There were two floors to the museum.  Here on display is a medicine cabinet… I work at a pharmacy and the display of medicine never looked like art to me but I wondered how he obtained all of these prescription drugs.  I walked over to look and caught myself guessing the various disease states this poor patient had and forced myself to stop.

This is a turkey disguised as a sheep. It actually reminds me of my rice cooker covered in fur.

Ten Floating Heads.  The heads on the bottom row are facing the center. I don’t know what its doing facing the center but they are making faces at each other. What is art…

The stack of plates on the left.  This is the entrance and I can see the long line from inside.

I called this marshmallows on  a stick. Some people call it Tulips.  It was my favorite.

Look back at it.

America in blinking lights. This is seriously all it does. Turn on and turn off. Its like America to get lit about one thing and over it the next day.

If only I were born a dog or a cat this would feel right.

Balloon puppy. I read somewhere the artist, Jeff Koons, sold the most expensive piece of art work in history and it was this dog in pink chrome.

Skull of rainbows. I wish I could take this home. The skulls don’t look scary anymore. dsc09131

The power went out and this poor tour guide had to stand here and describe the art to us.  This brain thing is hung from the ceiling with strings. You can’t see the string in the picture but a strobe light plays on the surface of the brain revealing bloody body parts. Kind of happy I didn’t see this.

This single piece of aluminum….
